Ed Davis to Read at Antioch Writers’ Workshop
On Monday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m., Ed Davis will participate in a free public reading with two other writers at National City Auditorium, Antioch University McGregor, 900 Dayton Street, Yellow Springs, Ohio. Davis will join memoirist Nahid Rachlin and fiction writer Mary Grimm with a reading of original poetry, mainly from his latest chapbook Healing Arts.
Following the reading, Davis will sign books, including two just-released national anthologies, each of which contains one of his short stories: Dots on a Map, (Main Street Rag Press) contains “Power in the Blood”; and Sweet Tea and Afternoon Tales (AWOC.COM Press) features “The Bicycle.” Both anthologies can be purchased at the reading, along with the poetry chapbook Healing Arts as well as his novels I Was So Much Older Then and The Measure of Everything.
Antioch University McGregor is the large new building located at the western edge of Yellow Springs, standing at the intersection of Dayton Street and East Enon Road. Parking is available in the rear. Entering town on Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, go left at the first light (that’s East Enon), then take the first left into the parking lot. If you’re approaching from the west on Dayton Street, go right at the light, then left into the lot.
Hope to see you there! For more information about the free readings (such as list of speakers) that will occur every evening from July 11 to July 17 at McGregor, call 475-7357 or e-mail info@antiochwritersworkshop.com.

From the book jacket:
"If there is one immutable feature in the social fabric of the American South, it is the telling of stories; giving a sense of place, traditions, family relationships, desires and hope. It has given rise to a unique blend of voices in American Literature, an entire school of writing, rich and diverse, with its own peculiar imagery, grace, and eloquence. It is a place where the simple and the quaint rise from mere words on a page to a level of art."

Two weeks ago, when she'd walked the Adams County property with the local contractor she hired to remove several trees, the limbs of which threatened the cabin, she'd felt anxious without truly knowing why..."
